I am not suggesting they are a lower class of people , far from it, however many are pleased to have a job, it seems many Australians don't want to work (or won't ) tin these jobs even to get a start . Once you have a job and get your feet on the ground you can start looking for better/different jobs. How may jobs fruit picking are going begging because unemeployed won't move out of cities to do these.
I used to travel from NQ to the Riverina in the early 70's to pick peaches etc, then back to the sugar mills for the crushing, after a few years of that I moved up into different jobs and eventually my own business.
You gotta start somewhere and these people in the main are just keen to get a start and contribute to the country that has offered them shelter. IMO
