I take no issue with mum and dad investors with an investment property. Its a capital gain so not exactly in the front of the line for taxpayer support, they get enough support as it is. Our 3rd richest Australian (by virtue that he did a uni degree here) is China property investor, the mob emailing staff telling them to horde medical supplies - a China property investor. In my suburb rents have doubled in a matter of years and on any given night now there are over 150,000 homeless. That's just the ones that get counted in a census. Affordable housing is what is needed in our society, not hand-outs to people and entities with a property portfolio. Homelessness going thru the roof is not because of a lack of stock but a broken, greed driven market. $450 a week garage/home anyone? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6860157/Richmond-studio-apartment-combines-kitchen-garage-asks-450-week-rent.html
