I figure you have to live somewhere, and would rather pay interest and receive a capital gain, than pay rent and lose the lot.
Inclined to think half the population are renters the other half are buyers and nothing you can say will have them change their mind, regardless.
But at the end of their life they still have nowhere to call their own, and the other half have the money.
And they are subject to the whims of the owners, nothing is permanent.
Elderly gent lives below me, in his 90's and the landlord ups the rent so often, too old to buy now he says.
