You seem confused re the CDOs the average aussie bank aka CBA, ANZ, NAB would not be buying CDO's, CDO's are in fact an interest bearing investment people invest in them not borrow them, I can see why you may worry about the mac bank, bnb's etc but not the big banks re cdo's. I do think that the big aussie banks could be vulnerable but only on a big fall in commercial/residential real estate prices which you are discounting. Who knows where there derivatives exposure could land them though.
