    That depends on many factors 1nvestor.
    Are you talking solar hot water or power? What system and how much of the cost is tax payer funded?
    The last time I crunched the numbers with an electrician, paying retail price for any solar system at the current cost of power wasn't viable.
    The other thing to consider is that insulation, house design and electrical appliances are always improving and that offsets the rise in electricity prices. Not to mention that solar technology is in same boat as flat screen TVs and cameras, next month there will be a better product for half the price.
    Maybe down the track, but I wouldn't be placing that much importance on it now.
