Whilst I don't agree that "Property is set to explode" I think we will see encouraging gains this year and for the next couple of years before the next boom.
Here in SE Qld the boom ended abruptly Xmas 2003. that's over 3 years ago. After that property fell 10-20% off it's highs for quite some time. However property was up 7% last year and prices are now higher than boom peak.
When property flattened out and the stockmarket took off no one invested in property, hence the rental crisis. But it is the competition for rentals and therefore rising rents that is renewing the interest in property.
In one or two years, give or take a year, the stockmarket will be due for a bit of a rest. Property is always a popular alternative for investors. If the sharemarket sags interest rates will go down and even more money will flow into property. Now is a good time to get set in property.
