All I can say is the greatest advantage of shares over property is the quick exit and constant updating of your stop losses. Riding it down to the bottom is a mugs game, you can always buy back into a fully priced market if you get it wrong. Those heavily leveraged to property will find out soon enough that every investment class has a cycle.
