I haven't got my head around it yet. Most of what you say is correct. However my understanding is that the carbon tax is there to stop using inefficient polluting power sources.
Now how they do that and when it will kick in is yet to be explained.
At the moment I see the government having difficulty in explaining the tax in simple english to the general populace.
