Labour hire industry reform is not likely this year under the new Fair Work Act
The Workplace Relations minister said: 1. Reform of labour hire is, “complex because we know the behaviour we want to stop...what we don’t know at the start is all the different business models that are out there”. 2. “Labour hire has a completely legitimate role dealing with surges [in demand], or dealing with specialised workforces.”
Most importantly he said that reform would “take longer” to avoid “unintended or perverse outcomes” to ensure that only labour hire used to undercut pay deals was targeted.
Much too vague at this stage to point to any material impact for ASH's business. The sentiment; however, may place negative pressure on the share price.
