The thing is taht this 'waste' is so benign that apparently you'd need to be buried in it for 70 hours to get an x-ray's worth of radiation.
My issue here is that this is similar to people in Australia living next to powerlines who feed off anecdotes and reckon they get cancer and whatnot. The amount of cancer the Malaysians got from the old, much worse plant, was similar to a normal population. So this is just panic and whether the panic happens here or there, I personally don't respect false fears.
Missing out on this would have a 100% chance of hurting people. The LAMP I would say is close to 0. Yes it is my money on the line but also jobs, and economic growth and all the fruits that brings with it for the Malaysians. All because of a bunch of people who are driven by fear and ignore evidence.
For the record, I'd happily live near a nuclear powerplant or LAMP, provided that there wasn't too much noise etc. Irrational fear would lead me to get a cheaper place lol.
