Once the government subsidies dry up as they are in Europe and US, then unworkable and impractical "renewables" such as solar photvoltaics and bird-chomping-mind-altering wind die a quick a ugly death...
Nuclear makes good sense as a number of countries have discovered, but of course only if you are sensible with your placement and technology upgrade policy (as Japan has not been).
