I'm all for tolerance but of course there are serious issues here and it needs to be well thought out.
Its interesting that a bike helmut must be removed when going into a bank, but a Burka cannot be removed. There may be legal requirement to demand the face is exposed when going into places like banks, but I suppose, on religious grounds, there is no legal "right" to demand the same. Perhaps its more about the right to deny access to a premises if the person is not suitably "clothed", e.g. like access to club can be denied... Its an interesting problem because people could be sued for "denying access" on what some would say, are religious grounds...
What is also interesting is how the judges comment brought no comment from Hotcopperites:
"There is not a shadow of doubt in my mind beyond a reasonable doubt that she knew that the complaint she was making was false," he said in sentencing Matthews.
What??? "not a shadow of doubt beyond reasonable doubt..."? I'd like to see the VENN diagram of that one!
