sodium oxalate Na2C2O4 is a waste product from Alumina refining, it is still available, but still has to be collected and transported nearly 600km.

The oxalate is used in the kiln to solubilise vanadium.

Ammonium sulphate is used in the precip circuit, and Windimurra used to get this quite cheap as a waste product from the Murrin Murrin operations.

The ammonium sulphate is no longer available cheaply as Murrin Murrin now sell all of it to other parties.

So there is one relatively cheap chemical (if we ignore the transport and collection costs) and the others are quite expensive.

The reference to reagent(s) being available as waste products is therefore not entirley correct.
