As I said before, someone like Giles Stapleton or anyone else with considerable commercial and corporate experience from a different background would likely be a great asset to the board. Its amazing how some one with a fresh perspective and new ideas can inject a certain momentum and bring about change.
What I've found previously though, is that by and large shareholders can be a bit apathetic and not bother voting or sending in proxy forms or whatever. That, in my opinion, is a significant risk to losing the opportunity to mix it up a bit. Diversification of skills and perspective invariably add value.
In my opinion the health of a company's heartbeat is directly proportionate to its willingness to attract and bring in diversified experience and skills sets and embrace the prospect of internal change for the opportunities it can bring. I am still considering my entry point but am also watching what happens with the company structure etc...GLTAH
