"Extending clinical trials? Is this a good thing or a bad thing. Are they extending because the data gathered to date is not as good as expected? Interesting."

It could be seen in different perspectives and as data is hard to make assumptions about you could view it as even if management viewed the possibility that current trials might not live up to expectations they are putting further applications into the ball park. It's either speeding up the time frame of when it will be able to treat multiple conditions or it's adding more shots on goal should one fail. Without doubt a positive announcement though :-)
