You are a classist pig.
The university someone attends doesn’t define a persons potential or ability to innovate and achieve global success!!
Multiple studies show that there’s a correlation with entry scores but not the university itself.
I’ sure you are aware that the higher education times is a commercial entity, and its ranking methodology is akin to academics batting off over appearing in science magazine more than actually churning out a higher quality student base.
As the following demonstrates your argument is based on idiotic and short-sighted beliefs and assumptions.
Your profile pic tells me you probably go around mentioning which uni you went to, even though you work a middle-class white collar job (not that there’s anything wrong with that either).
WAKE UP!

The Grattan HILDA study found that what type of university a person attended did not make much difference to whether or not a person had a job or how much money they make.
Also states that course studied is more important that the university attended.Peters foresight is amazing just like so many successful leaders in technology.

Standardized measures of intelligence, ability, or achievement are all measures of acquired knowledge and skill and have consistent relationships with multiple facets of success in life, including academic and job performance. Five persistent beliefs about ability tests have developed, including: (a) that there is no relationship with important outcomes like creativity or leadership, (b) that there is predictive bias, (c) that there is a lack of predictive independence from socioeconomic status, (d) that there are thresholds beyond which scores cease to matter, and (e) that other characteristics, like personality, matter as well. We present the evidence and conclude that of these five beliefs, only the importance of personality is a fact; the other four are fiction.

Why universities should forget about rankings
There are more than 18,000 higher education institutions worldwide, according to the World Higher Education Database. However, only a small minority will ever appear in the rankings, no matter how much they try and how many resources are devoted to the task.... so without massive financial and other resources, it is almost impossible for academic institutions to improve their ranking status.
The top 100 universities therefore represents only 0.5%.
So how many success stories come out of the other 99.5% do you think?
