Don't know where they get that from - if the residue from Lynas is of such low radioactivity, and has a low level of thorium, then how are they going to use it to generate such massive amounts of energy?
Also - thorium reactors are not really a commercial prospect yet - and may be a decade or two away. India has one, I believe, as an experimental project. But thorium power is not yet a commercial reality.
Better to turn the residue into road base or gypsum for plaster board..!
And I see some idiot on Twitter has added to that original quote by suggesting that the thorium could kill 4 trillion Malaysians as well - if they had that many...
Someone still doesn't get it!
