Prospect timelines Arcadia pilot plant project

Harare – Australia Stock exchange-listed lithium miner and developer, Prospect Resources limited says their freshly funded Arcadia lithium project is making steady progress and as such the company has been able to timeline key events for the development.

The company recently raised 6.5 million Australian dollars (about US$5,07 million) through the sale of almost 42 million of the group’s ordinary shares in order to fund the hard rock lithium project situated just outside Harare after purchasing Farvic’s 17 percent stake in the project, effectively increasing Prospect’s total project interest to 87 percent.

The project is set to double Prospect’s lithium outflow from 1.2Mtpa to 2.4Mtpa

The company’s Zimbabwe operations general manager, Trevor Barnard said that preparations for the operation will kick off soon with the aim of visible production by June.

“Over the next few months we will start by blasting the pit, load ore and crush ore to a stock pile and feed our main Dense Media Separation (DMS) petatile plant,

“The main building to house the DMS unit has been erected and the power supply being installed, we are now waiting the delivery of the primary equipment to commence installation in May while construction of the foundations will be completed during April.

“We plan to commission the crashing plant in May and the DMS unit in June and start production of our low iron and low alkaline product during June,” Barnard said while giving an update on proceedings at the site.

Meanwhile, according to a report by The Herald published earlier this month, Prospect plans to begin exports of lithium from the Arcadia project by December this year.
