Did you realise that Guan is Dr Jian Guan who was working with Dame Margaret at Auuckland University - she was part of the team of three that started out producing the NNZ range. She is a world class medicinal chemist and was doing her PhD under Dame Margaret almost 20 years ago.
Knowing who was working in this team 20 years ago producing the compounds that we are trialling today (it was a 20 year project) comes as no surprise to me when the latest clinical results were delivered. This was a hand chosen team that started out with Peter Gluckman (previously NZ Govt Chief Science Advisor) - now Sir Peter Gluckman giving Margaret Brimble a phone call to see if she was interested in this project. The rest ...as we say ...is history. Not often do we see intellectual powerhouses like these people associated with a publicly listed company.
