God is pure abstraction so no human ever born can worship anything other than some form of construct. Prayer or worship can have a polarising, meditative effect. One can bring themselves to account each day and if they lived it positively or with aspects they might work on. Prayer is the language of the inner self. It should lead to humility.
God is real to Himself but to us His nature is unknowable. We can know His attributes. Prayer for the Will of God is highly beneficial because it enables one to become accepting of what life has to throw at you.
God is outside of nature so in that sense He is supernatural. It is said that God hears all sincere prayers but the outcome or answer to those prayers may not follow a lineal path as per the wishes that the one praying might hope for.
Science is a path to God. It just depends on how one interprets the evidence.
Personally I want to believe in the supernatural God. Be very careful. If this is a solo journey that's okay. Do not give yourself away to the happy clappers, or the only people God loves, or some other such rubbish. With regards to whatever you look into if this becomes a search to connect, make sure you give the Baha'is a go.
I'm not a religious person but they are the only organised religion that makes sense to me. Christianity makes sense to me away from its organised aspects.
