Wotsup, you can see clearly the advice from Darkroom has no support from the Scriptures in areas that you have investigated. Wouldn't it be wise to seek the Bibles counsel on this one too. That the one true religion of the OT ( John 4:22-24 ) turned apostate does not mean there is not one true religion today. Jesus gathered from out of the nation of Israel disciples that he personally trained and equipped to form this one true ( Christian ) religion. The nation of Israel was formed from the 12 sons of Jacob ( whose name was changed to Israel - Gen 32:28 ), while the Christian congregation was based on the 12 disciples Jesus chose and named apostles.
One of these named Peter told the Jewish people what was necessary to get saved. It involved calling on the name of Jehovah as well as getting baptized in the name of Jesus in order to receive the holy spirit. - Acts 2:21, 38. 3,000 responded that day . Acts 2: 39. Jehovah kept adding those that were to get saved Acts 2:47.
