What if: Once upon a time there was a private company where the majority owners were asset rich but cash poor.
What if: These owners were looking to cash up so they went and saw the big listed companies in town but the town sentiment was "No".
What if: The owners looked towards the market and saw one of their own was already invoved in a debt free cashed up listed company undergoing a strategic review looking for expansion/change in direction.
Just thinking out loud but What if?????????
