I recall seeing an article that explained that if UCG was used in a Distributed Power scheme, i.e. small 40MW genartion stations around the land, the economics were so strong that almost nothing could compete. Low capex, low opex, and high comparators were the main reasons I recall.
See if I can find that article for you (and the watchers).
