My thoughts are, fizzer or not...They have to release a price sensitive announcement considering it's the culmination of a 12 month collaboration, even if there was no significant IP derived from the collaboration.
I'm guessing that at the minimum, the collaboration has seen results that warrants further investigation...But more than likely there is something to anchor the collaboration on.
Why would Thermo Fisher organize a big presentation? Certainly not to embarrass themselves.
TF would have just let PTX release a private fizzer announcement and never spoken of the expedition again...Alternatively they want to talk about their findings.
