TBH, shareholders are almost universally regarded as a nuisance by the internal operators of public companies and the best is done to keep them at arm's length while still meeting the requirement to engage and keep them informed. To put it tongue-in-cheek, the sentiment seems to be that SH's are some type of person slouched on a couch in a greasy undershirt singlet supping on a beer while loudly demanding answers on topics they barely understand. I say this having sat opposite a company investor relations staffer who had to field regular calls from investors.
