Public get say on wave farm plan
Posted Fri May 23, 2008 1:47pm AEST
The Albany council is asking for public comment on a proposal to allow a clean energy company to investigate the potential for a wave farm in the city.
Carnegie Corporation has a wave farm off Fremantle which uses a number of submerged buoys that create energy as they are moved by passing waves.
The buoys drive pumps that pipe pressurised seawater to shore.
Council passed a motion to allow the corporation to conduct a three-year feasibility study into wave energy at Sand Patch.
The public comment period closes on June 5.
