I listened to the "Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy" - Jenny McAllister on the TV this morning.

Sounds like she is straight out of 1930's Russia. She wants public servants to be able to control the batteries in our cars and homes to balance the grid.

Already public servants want to control our air conditioners to balance the grid.

She used sickly sweet language about introducing more "standards" but it's clear the government wants to control appliances that individuals buy and instal. Going be interesting to see what sticks and carrots the government use to intrude into our homes.
