Perhaps the reality of being forced to the polling booths to resolve the internal conflicts on the conservative side of politics at a cost of about $200 million has turned the public against the idea. Not even the PM supports the plebiscite. He just adopted it as a matter of convenience during the leadership spill and hasn't had the nous to dump the idea.
