The passive and streptavidin plates serve different research purposes. Passive will bind pretty much any antibody or protein and its about 50x cheaper than high-sensitivity streptavidin plates. It's the cheap, easy and dirty method for antibodies. It sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. About $1-5+ for a high quality plate.

Streptavidin binds irreversibly and selectively to proteins that are genetically modified to contain a special tag known as biotin. Works pretty close to 100% of the time, over $60+ for 1 plate.

These 2 types of plates would dominate most of the immunoassay plate market. But some other plates are also quite large including protein A coated plates (these bind strongly to antibodies only), which from the research Anteo has posted in presentations, I would bet my left nut that Anteo is also investigating/developing this plate as well.
