I havent look at construction costs for pulp mills before but a quick google of the construction costs for Fray Botnia was about $US1.2bn for 1mtpa of output. As I understand it it is the same plant being built at Tamar (very similar). So on the face of it there seems to be a large difference? However when accounting for material inflation over that 5 years it could be very large due to big increases in raw material costs, perhaps adding 30% at a rough guess to construction costs....also the Tamar plant cost I think includes the $200m GNS has already incurred......we may be comparing apples and oranges because the $1.2bn might be just the pure construction costs without all ancillary costs....similar to when you build a house these days..it may cost $200k to actually build a house but the total cost including reports, permits etc can be twice that.......
