I appreciate ddzxs comments but I think the share price increase still has some legs on the back of this announcement. Whilst some information mentioned was already in the background, IMO the company has been smart in holding back on making any major announcement/marketing until securing the Australian patent, which was done on 21st May and knowing they could get out and market the company. Don't forget, this company is a new IPO, and flew under the radar for most since listing (check HC posts), so pretty much all information is new to most (at least since the IPO details came out earlier in 2015).
I love biotechs but quite often get frustrated in the time between announcements/ updates. PIQ seems to be pretty active in making announcements, and given the "global breakthrough" and "world's first" headlines we've seen this week, coupled with the USA Biotech conference attendance next week we should see some more soon.
Here's a list of their announcements since listing less than 2 months ago - plenty of good ones, including appointing a head of business development. This is surely to get the story over to the USA.
The industry takeovers mentioned are an indication of transactions in this space and I don't believe they necessarily reflect the maximum value big pharma would pay for a proteomic company. If we analyse Cellzome, acquired by GSK for $99m, GSK already had a 20% stake, so the overall value was more like $120m. Not bad for 2 early-stage programs + platform. No evidence to say that Cellzome had any global breakthroughs or world's first tech, like PIQ apparently do.
PIQ has heaps of potential, not just next week, but well into the future I think.
