Ferrari, Ford (Chevy will too when the bloody Z06 is revealed) charge big dollars to option the carbon fiber wheels on their most exclusive (allocation exhausted) products, which would be hard to justify if there were aftermarket CBR wheels out there.
OEM only is the best way to secure large, consistent contracts. The aftermarket is a small slice of the pie (especially at this price point) and not worth the hassle. I'm glad they abandoned the aftermarket quietly.
Also OEM deals get you the exposure a start-up like CBR needs. For example, if Elon tweeted that Tesla was going to offer a (CBR) carbon fiber wheel option, we would be instant millionaires haha.
