"It's been stated many times by the company that BrainChip is a "pure play" artificial intelligence company which offers a potential shareholder an opportunity to buy into one of the fastest growing industries on the planet".

Pure plays also come with incredible risk. If for whatever reason Akida does not gain traction in the market (e.g. Akida might not be good as many people here believe, the technology might not have matured yet to make it commercially viable, a competitor product ends up simply being better etc etc), it could join the tech startup graveyard very easily given it has little to no backup earning avenues.

The same reasoning of course applies to all of the other startups too. Out of the dozens and dozens of startups in this space, it is likely only a few will make it. Based on probability and tech startup history, the chances BRN will be one of the success stories is low. The advantage of a risky pure play like BRN is that in the event it does succeed, the upside may be significantly bigger.


You also say:

"Investing in one of the existing behemoths means you are investing into everything that company is doing and not specifically the A.I technologies it is developing".

The advantage of this is that even if, for example, Loihi fails, Intel has an enormous number of other revenue generating activities. This spreads the risk around and it is unlikely Intel would fail completely as a company. The same cannot be said about BrainChip.
