"Push in the back" - so far from its original meaning!

The current "push in the back" rulings are so far from the original intention of that rule that it is spoiling the game

It's now virtually impossible for a player to tackle another from behind without this total misinterpretation of the original rule resulting in a free kick to the tackled player.

Even when the tackling player's body is mostly to one side of the tackled player and he only has one arm wrapping around the tackled player the whistle blows and a free is awarded.

This madness is spoiling the great game I've watched since the 50's.
