One of the world’s most prestigious surgical institutions has called on Australian company Medic Vision to help design and develop new state-of-the-art training facilities.
An award-winning specialist in the supply of surgical simulation systems and consultancy services, Medic Vision has been contracted to transform the Royal College of Surgeons of England. The five-year deal will see the implementation of various technologies and methodologies, including computer-based surgical and medical high fidelity simulators.
Medic Vision CEO Ross Horley said the new skills centre will incorporate new teaching facilities for anatomy, skills training, multi disciplinary training and team activities and cater to the specific needs of tomorrow’s surgeons. He said, “this is a very important project for Medic Vision. It reinforces and extends our widely recognised credibility in respect of the provision of highly sophisticated and professional services and products for surgical and medical skills training centres.”
Recently appointed to open UK and Hong Kong simulation service and maintenance centres by US partner Immersion Medical, Medic Vision is growing in stature as an international provider of medical training expertise. It recently beat entrants from across Australia to win the 2006 Innovic Next Big Thing innovation award for its own, fully developed Mediseus Epidural Simulator, one of a range of products it is now marketing on a global scale.
According to Horley, the latest contract with the Royal College of Surgeons of England reflects Medic Vision’s ability to provide the full range of services needed for a training centre transformation, from conception and design through to supply and implementation. He said, “to be involved with this project from its inception where our full range of skills can be deployed is both important and very gratifying. We look forward to maintaining a long and successful relationship with the College.”
