    Recent SP action is likely because of what oil's doing (troubles in Libya etc) rather than takeover speculation. CTP is only a minor producer of oil at Mereenie (and Surprise if they ever restart it) but the east coast gas price is now more firmly linked to the price of oil via the LNG export terminals so a sustained period of higher oil prices is a benefit for both spot gas sales and future gas contracts.
