After leaving the country and moving to the city as a young man I started in business. An agricultural development company. Since selling out I moved into a corporate city job as an operations manager until my retirement 8 years ago. I still spend around half of the year in the goldfields doing research and consultancy under contract to a large mining company.
My time in the army was not my choosing..............but it was the law. Not all of us nashos survived.
@Tarvold has made a good comment on the army life. I also saw the ingrained aggressive tendencies of many that served. Drunken fights, abuse of women. In the 1980- 90s I had the task of helping a young woman that was married to an SAS soldier. That bloke was a Pyscho.......He said he was trained to kill but had no opportunity in those years to do so. So he took out the frustration by beating her up.
