G8 Education (ASX: GEM) has been granted a trading halt by the ASX, with its shares placed in pre-open.

The halt was requested pending a capital raising, which will be by the way of the issue of unsecure medium term notes under the Multicurrency Debt Issuance Programme recently announced.

The halt will remain in place until the opening of trade on Monday 12th May 2014, or earlier if an announcement is made to the market.
