Putin Says Global Warming Is ‘A Fraud’, page-24

Two contradictory viewpoints by Putin there. First they say he says global warming is a fraud. Then they say he says global warming is good for Russia as Russians can then spend less on fur coats.

If the article truly reflects Putin's position, its obvious that his view is aligned to concern that Russia could be economically constrained if it had to reduce emissions by cutting down its fossil fuel production.

What a strange situation that some here on the fringe Hard Right of politics want to align themselves with the Russians view of the world. Some of these Hard Right reckon Putin's the saviour in the middle east and now he is their global warming hero denier of global warming.

In both cases the Russian is simply looking after Russian interests. In Syria they have substantial economic interests so they are there to support the Assad regime which is on good terms with Russia, rather than fighting terrorists. On global warming Russia does not want to diminish demand for its massive reserves of fossil fuels.
