Wow, that's a result I wouldn't expect. I thought only the eastern provinces would vote for Putin, but many from the central and western side must have also. Even Yanukovych who was ousted in the coup scored near the bottom.

My first thought was maybe some political organisations got a heap of people to vote for Putin, but that doesn't explain why so few voted for the others. There was a comment at the bottom of that link saying something similar.

Maybe calling into military service anyone who could fog a mirror to fight a war against their own people caused some problems for Poroshenko and co.
