Hey Guys just putting it all into context of how much water we would be talking about.
From what I can see the drainage basin for the Garden well area is around 135km²
if you cover all of that with 165mm of rain you will end up with something like 22,275,000,000 litres of water or 21,874,174 tonnes of water.
All of that has to drain off through an area that may be only 100-200m wide. of course its going to build up pretty quickly.
From past experience the bunding on most mine sites is 3-6m high so you can only imagine what the boys must have been thinking when it started lapping halfway up and rising...oh crap.
might have to add another metre for next time ??
looking at my numbers it could have been a lot worse.
