Filing patents to protect a company's intellectual properties is a paramount step. It ensures that competitors could not trump you and stop your R&D abruptly, wasting all those time and money thus far. PYC had suffered a major setback before, losing an opportunity of a drug worth US$10b /year because a very large pharma had beaten PYC to the mark and filed the patent first.
Therefore filing a patent is a precursor to announcing a new drug. It deserves a separate thread so any news could be announced and discussed here.
PYC has just filed another 2 patents on 29/11/2023! These are on the treatment of monogenic neurodevelopmental disorders.
They could be for the drug already announced for treating Phelan McDermid Syndrome. However, there is always a chance that they might be for a new drug.
Last time they filed a patent on treatment of kidney disease in 09/2023, they then announced the PKD Polycystic Kidney Disease drug a month later. In fact I broke the news of the PKD drug before PYC did. See my Post #: 70256301 "PYC 4th New Drug for Polycystic Kidney Disease".
If this is a typical timeline, we could be in for a surprise this month or next in 01/2024. We are waiting with a bated breath!
