Not that excited by this article (even though many on this site highlight PI for the media attention lol) in reality Proactive Investors generally just reprints the release with a few word changes. Anyway still good but i'll be keen to see my inbox in the morning plenty of press overseas when this partnership was first signed up 12 months ago & even more recently in an article wrapping up Pfizers progress over 2011 Phylogica & Lpath got a line or two in.


Phylogica pinpoints several Phylomers with potential for peptide-based vaccine development

Phylogica (ASX: PYC) has identified multiple novel Phylomers that could be a source for peptide-based vaccines as part of its collaboration with pharmaceutical company Pfizer.

The company has successfully completed the first stage of its collaboration with Pfizer to discover novel peptide-based vaccines, for which Phylogica will receive an undisclosed milestone payment.

Phylogica has identified several peptides from its Phylomer libraries that will be further evaluated for their potential as candidate antigens for a vaccine against an undisclosed disease.

Under the collaboration, which was announced to the market in December last year, Pfizer has the right to licence any resulting Phylomers for further research, development and commercialisation of novel peptide-based vaccines.

Phylogica received an upfront payment of US$500,000 and will receive preclinical, clinical and other milestone payments of up to $134 million, as well as royalties on worldwide sales, under the agreement.


Phylomers

Phylomer peptides are derived from biodiverse natural sequences, which have been selected by evolution to form stable structures, which can bind tightly and specifically to disease associated target proteins, both inside and outside cells.

Diseases that Phylogica’s Phylomers target include infectious diseases, cancer, autoimmunity and heart disease
