Khaled Elomar is a poor choice for a "moderate muslim" whatever that means.
When I visited Turkey I didn't see men all around me with beards fashioned in the all too obvious moustacheless "sunna" format.
In fact any "muslim" with a moustacheless beard should be instantly looked on with suspicion as being fanatic or leaning that way in my experience.
They are rightly viewed with skepticism and the "uniformed muslim" with beard should be treated with suspicion. The wearing of that garb and beard automatically distinguishes them as wanting to be seen as different.
They should not be surprised when their own failure to integrate makes them feel excluded.
