Josh Frydenberg deserves to be commended for fronting Q&A on behalf of Tony Abbott's paranoid government.

Frydenberg managed to repeatedly point the spyfinger at Kevin Rudd's government and negotiated his way through the night without spilling Abbott's beans; even if he did look pretty stressed and floundering on high seas.

That's something Abbott himself has been way too inept and scared to do; both as Opposition Leader and now as PM.

It was an exceptional Q&A and a credit to each of the panellists and even to those who asked questions.

It revealed just how self-serving, petty and disgusting Australia's response to asylum seekers has become and just how bereft of ideas Abbott's infantile government really is.

It highlighted that while a country as small as Lebanon has taken 1,500,000 asylum seekers [mainly women and children] that the wealthiest country on Earth has even reduced the paltry 20,000 intake established by Labor.

And what was the miserable turning point that marked Australia's decsent into the inhumane treatment and demonisation of asylum seekers as 'illegals'?

The sinking in October 2001 of the SievX and death of 353 mainly women and children asylum seekers denied a life with their husbands and fathers by John Howard's TPV scheme; reports of which were all but non-existent at the time!
