watso only saw a few minutes of the show - but did catch the bit where the woman mentioned the number of syrian refugees in Lebanon. watso wondered if syrian refugees in lebanon were granted permanent residency/citizenship with all the associated benefits - such as a good social security system (including pensions), welfare housing etc.
syrian refugees in lebanon would be a temporary thing - where the refugees would return home as soon as things settled down. also, in lebanon, they are mostly amongst their own kind - where there is a mix of sunni, shia and christian - who also like to have a argument , from time to time.
australia has decided to accept 500 refugees from syria - with a bit of luck they will be from the christian , or atheist part of syrian society.
when fraser (the liberal PM) took in a lot of lebanese , during a civil war, it seems that a lot of people were imported, who would not really integrate into australia
