yes - blessing in disguise
IMEC work around four memory groups - 4DS falls in the third of these / amorphous & crystalline phase change through interface switching
the four can be utilised across reram, mram, pcm and dram - 4DS has obvious applications in IMECs area of development
plus new switching technology in to the bargain / they'll be pretty happy imo
At functional 60nm and with a clear data set confirmed this tech will potentially capturer SCM right where optane missed the mark
( and optane is a good memory) unable to beat the Nand cost pressure the closer to scm it went - this will potentially do that and could become a killer application in that space as a starting point for whoever acquires it
I think that is IMECS take at this point in time - and taping out through a foundry partner on a line will allow IMEC to establish that
perhaps be part of a bilateral collaboration going forward

that's how i see it - but i could be completely wrong of course
