In this anonymous(seemingly) keyboard world, Gatekeepers will not be tolerated particularly amongst the current generation - Generation C(onnected) whose idea of patience is a week at the most. Your eg of Disney was a good one and the reason it failed as you stated. Sadly the big players will never be able to put aside their differences and profits to offer the one shop stop for our viewing appetite, imo.
Which opens the door to other players who can put the deals together, like itunes did for music. Hopefully QFX has this potential.
As much I like what pirating offers, in the end it is self defeating for content creation. There is a market for quality and HBO business model and philosophy is a shining example, IMO
Sadly Australia is taking a back seat in these new content creation opportunity's. We never know what we have until someone else tells us, eg Aboriginal Art. The early returns from 60's purchases where out of this world...and certainly mostly of the financial gain went out of this country. GLTA
