Religion is a belief in a higher power, so if you don't believe in a higher power I can't see how that is religious.

As to life outside of Earth, with a vast universe and billions of suns, there may be something. It doesn't really bother me either way.

Science fiction to me is entertainment, although Isaac Asimov very rarely wrote about et's, it was all about human evolution. He had a brilliant mind.
