I'm not religious, but I have respect for the institution of religion, as it assists in instilling a sense of morality in society.
Sure, it's a slow moving target & any smarty pants can knock it down....but in doing so if you are not offering up anything better to replace it with you are probably not helping maintain moral standards in society.
The majority of unregenerate violent youths plaguing Melbourne at the moment would have had a minimal religious upbringing I would suspect - so unless you can offer something than religion to society, it's probably better to leave it alone, as it does assist people develop moral character.
